This was a fantastic race. 26.2 miles. Some 2,000 runners did the full marathon, 3,000 did the half marathon. Well organized, superb weather conditions, small elevation changes, no camber problems on the road (meaning that the course was truly flat), nice scenery, water stops very consistent, and pretty good crowds along the course.
OK you're asking yourself "Camber? What's camber?" There's only one way I describe it. Typically when you're driving down a road, you'll notice that water from rains doesn't tend to collect on the road. It will run off to either side of the roadway surface. This is because the contractor that made the road did it by putting a very slight downward angle to the road from the center line to the edge. You don't notice it when you're driving but when I'm running along the road it causes lower leg stress. This stress translates into injury after a few miles. Make sense?
